ELECTRICITY also can be trasnferred wirelessly i.e without using wires....that can be done by magnetic field.
If we arrange coils to all appliances and arrange 2-3 source coils in our home then there is no need to use wires running through wall.No fear of electric shocks......

In a transformer current flows from primary coil to secondary coil.
This happens by magnetic field which is released by first coil and received by secondary coil.
In a transformer the distance between primary and secondary coil is very less BUT that can also be done for a little long distances like 2-4 meters. 
SO , a coil is attached to the current source and another coil is attached to appliances like phones,televisions,laptops,fans,rice cookers......etc.......Through this electricity is converted to magnetic field which gets transmitted for some distance.If any appliance is in reach of that magnetic field can receive and convert that into electricity which makes the device work
